After this session, participants will be able to:

Identify the evolving profile of today’s retired law enforcement officers and understand why they’re increasingly suited for school-based roles beyond traditional perceptions of retirement.

Evaluate the pros and cons of in-house versus third-party off-duty staffing models, with attention to liability, consistency, cultural integration and funding logistics.

Apply strategies to foster trust and community alignment, including messaging to reduce fear of armed presence, building parent/faculty buy-in and designing roles that go beyond “a gun at the door.
